Hi, I’m Dana Tucker. I’ve been involved with audio for many years, I have been doing this for close to 50 years and one of the things I have learned is that good audio isn’t about having the most expensive equipment, it’s about understanding what you have. Over the years I have spent countless hours working with live sound, recording, digital mixing consoles, signal flow, routing, microphones, monitoring, recording and the many other pieces that make up a modern audio system.

A large part of my teaching has focused on the Behringer X32, M32 and WING digital mixers. These consoles are incredibly powerful, but they can also be intimidating when you first start using them. That’s where I come in. I enjoy taking complicated audio concepts and breaking them down into language that makes sense. I don’t want to simply tell you where to find a button. I want you to understand why you’re using it.

Why Church Audio?

Church sound is different from many other forms of live audio. The people operating the console are often volunteers. They may have a full-time job during the week and then volunteer on Sunday morning because somebody needs to run sound. They may never have attended an audio school. They may have inherited a complicated digital console and been told, “Just don’t change anything.” I’ve heard those stories many times. My goal is to change that. I want church volunteers to walk into the sound booth with confidence.

Why I Continue This Ministry

My wife Liz and I shared a dream of traveling throughout the United States and helping churches with their audio systems. We wanted to teach people, encourage volunteers and help churches get the most out of the equipment they already owned. After Liz passed away, I made the decision to continue pursuing that dream. This ministry is one of the ways I honor her. Liz isn’t here to travel beside me anymore, but the dream we shared is still here, and I intend to keep working toward it.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe the best teacher is the person who can take something complicated and make it understandable. I don’t expect you to know everything or expect you to be an audio engineer. I don’t expect you to learn everything in one lesson, I simply want to help you take the next step. Whether you’re brand new to church audio or you’ve been mixing for years, there is always something else to learn. If I can help you understand your system better, then I’ve done what I set out to do.
