The Behringer WING offers a variety of processing capabilities, including effects. When discussing pre and post fader effects on the WING, it’s essential to understand the difference between the two:
- Pre Fader Effects: These are effects applied to a signal before it is affected by the channel fader. This means that the effect’s level is not influenced by the fader’s position. Prefader effects are often used for monitoring purposes, such as when sending a signal to a singer’s in-ear monitors, allowing them to hear the effects applied to their voice without altering the main mix.
- Post Fader Effects: These effects are applied after the channel fader. This means that the level of the effects will change if the fader is adjusted. This is useful for effects like reverb or delay in the main mix, where you want to control the effect’s prominence in relation to the dry signal.
Setting Up Effects on Behringer WING:
You can access the effect engines via the “Effects” tab on the touchscreen interface. From there, you can select various effects units and choose the desired effect type. To set an effect as a pre or post fader for a specific channel, navigate to the channel strip on the touchscreen. You can designate the effect send as pre fader or post fader, by selecting the option in the effect send section of the channel setup.
Once your effects are assigned, you can adjust the send levels as well as a Sends & Return bus to control how much effect is blended into the mix. The WING provides flexible routing options, allowing users to customize signal paths for both effects and monitoring. This allows you to dial in the perfect effect for your mix.
