Because the X32/M32 Multitrack Manager is a newly developed Windows application, you may receive a security warning when downloading or opening the program for the first time. Don’t be surprised if Windows Defender, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, or another antivirus program displays a warning!

Why Does This Happen?

The X32/M32 Multitrack Manager was developed using Python and packaged as a standalone Windows executable so users don’t have to install Python or additional programming tools. Some antivirus programs are particularly cautious about newly released applications, especially those that haven’t yet established a download history or been digitally signed by a recognized software publisher.

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen also uses reputation-based protection. Because our program is new and hasn’t been downloaded by thousands of users, Windows may display a message such as “Windows protected your PC.” These warnings do not automatically mean the program contains a virus. However, they should not be ignored without checking the file.

What Should You Do If You Receive a Warning?

  1. Download the program only from my official website: https://danatucker.com/
  2. Scan the downloaded ZIP file with Microsoft Defender or your preferred antivirus program before extracting it.
  3. After extracting the ZIP, right-click the application and select Scan with Microsoft Defender if that option is available.
  4. If Microsoft Defender SmartScreen displays a warning, select More info or Show more, if available, to review the warning and publisher information.
  5. If your antivirus program identifies a specific threat, quarantines the file, or reports malware, do not bypass the warning. Stop and contact me with the name of the detection so it can be investigated.

Should You Disable Windows Defender?

Absolutely not!

You should never have to disable Windows Defender, turn off your antivirus protection, or create broad security exclusions just to use this software. I encourage everyone to keep their Windows security software enabled and up to date.

A Final Word About Security

The X32/M32 Multitrack Manager is provided free of charge by D & L Recording Studio LLC. As an independently developed application, it may initially encounter reputation-based warnings that are common with newly distributed Windows programs. My goal is to provide useful software while encouraging everyone to practice good computer security. If you encounter a warning you don’t understand, please contact me before proceeding. I’d much rather help you investigate a warning than have you compromise your computer’s security.
